To reverse it from doing that go back into set launch options and remove the -editor word by backspacing and then leave it empty then try relaunching the game. The next time you launch omsi 2 it will launch the map editor. Im asking if someone could make a hampshire map more specifically a portsmouth one with maybe routes 3 to fareham bus station and maybe x4 then later you could extend the map to gosport bus station it would be a good addition to Omsi 2 i think with all these good repaints going around i hope in the future this will happen. Tip: you can launch the OMSI 2 map editor by right clicking on your game in steam click "Properties" then look for "Set Launch Options" click that and then type "-editor" without the quotes.
You don't need to be an expert in Java or C++ or Python, OMSI 2 has it's own scripting language which you can learn from the forums or trial and error or just asking. Learning scripting is also a plus for you. I wish you alot of good luck with learning to build your own map. Though I never worked on a map project before I know some tips that can help you in the long run. This may sound like a long comment but I am trying to help you as much as possible by giving you knowledge of what I already know. But keep in mind when doing this the objects you use from that map will affect both the map you took the objects from and the one you are creating. You can use scenery objects from other maps (As a beginner) you already have in OMSI 2 if you are creating a fictional map that is not based on real life. Eventhough the latest version of blender is 2.82a I recommend blender version 2.9 because for some reason the latest version switched up the export feature (which you will need for omsi when you want to convert you 3D models from blender to omsi) 2.9 is not too old but it has the features to "Export Direct X Files" which you need it is fundamental. And it is what you should use if you want to create your own map objects for omsi. Blender is a 3d modelling program most objects you see in omsi are creeated using blender including map objects and buses. So you have to model them for that I recommend blender. Cause that map don't already exist in omsi therefore objects from other maps may or may not have all scenery in the area you or city which you live.
An example like using low resolution textures for some objects or scripting it in such a way that the game use priorities.įor learning modelling if you are creating a map based on real world that means you need to learn how to model your own objects. But if it's a big map then you probably have to learn some techniques how to conserve memory. As I said it depends on how big your maps is you can make it as big as you want. Also the bigger your map the more frame rates will be affected and the slower your omsi map will run. You may have to learn how to model real world objects from google maps (3D Modelling) and also learn how to apply texture them. There is alot to consider when creating your own maps as Velogoo said it's not all easy.
You can start by reading the map editor manual here: and you can also watch tutorials. Yes OMSI 2 comes with a map editor that allows players to build thier own maps.
